"Wild Tulips" Vintage 1930's Silk Chiffon & Voile Evening Gown UK 10 US 6

£2,271.00

A marvel to behold, this original vintage 1930's black cotton voile and silk chiffon evening gown, decorated with a silver rhinestone inlay metal chain, is a rare piece to behold.

The bateau cut neckline is accented by a soft pleated feature, which draws together in gathered pleats along either side of the shoulder seam. The short open flutter cut sleeves, frame the elegant pleated band feature which drapes along the bust-line and is decorated with a threaded metal and rhinestone embellished chain, in a trailing leaf pattern between two circular hoops. The pleated draped band joins the shoulder lines where it is stitched in gathered pleats and continues to frame either side of the deep V shaped backline, joining together along the central part of the waistline, to drape in two long sashes. The elegant cut of the bodice, is accented by the fitted waistline. The full length skirt, drapes along the silhouette and flares out into a bias cut hemline, which finishes in a subtle train along the back of the dress. The skirt is set off by silk chiffon floral appliqués and inlays, creating a design of trailing tulips along the bottom of the dress. This dress is sheer and may need a slip to conceal ones modesty.

Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition.  There are areas of colour variation to the cotton voile along the front bodice, these appear as a lighter shade of brown, these are not apparent when the dress is being worn and only noticeable when the dress is held up to the light. Gentle and light tarnishing to the metal claps feature along the front of the neckline. The press studs along the side seam have been replaced as the original ones showed signs of vers de gris. A very small darn to the cotton voile along the back of the dress beneath the waist seam and beneath the sashes. A small mend to the silk chiffon along the hemline. A small pin hole to the silk chiffon skirt line.   These minor details are in no way apparent when the dress is being worn as they are well concealed within the drape and design of the dress. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the product description.
