With the most exquisite pattern of roses, rendered in a stylised sketch design in shades of grey, taupe, blue, brown and green, in a watercolour palette, set against a white background, this original 1950's vintage dress is just the piece to welcome the warmer weather with.
The V shaped neckline is framed by pleated shoulder straps that draw in beneath looped tabs along each shoulder line, allowing for the pleats to radiate along the cross-over design of the bodice. The sleeveless cut, draws the eye to the fitted bodice, which boasts a brown velvet band beneath the bust-line, which threads through the top layer of the cross over bodice, joining the back of the dress in a stylised decorative bow, which conceals part of the zip fastening. The wonderful flowing line of the skirt, is accented by gathered pleats that radiate from beneath the velvet ribbon band, completing this dress in an iconic late 1950's silhouette. Finished with a V shaped back-line which is framed by the pleats that run along the back of the shoulder line. The floral cotton overlay of the dress conceals the cream rayon lining. The bodice of the dress boasts a small central bone along the base of the décolletage.

Closures: This dress fastens along the back with a 12 inch metal zip and a hook and eye. And with two press studs and two hook and eyes to fasten the decorative bow in place.
Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition. Very gentle yellowing to the cotton fabric along the base of the armpits. A few very small linear age marks concealed within the drape and floral print of the skirt. These minor details are not apparent when the dress is being worn as they are well concealed within the floral design and print.
Washing instructions: This garment should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cool water.
