This truly enchanting 1930's silk velvet dress, rendered in a trio of colours, royal purple, accented by a berry red and lime green, is the perfect statement piece to add to your vintage collection.
The V shaped neckline of the dress is framed by a pointed velvet collar which is composed of a lime green silk velvet panel and a berry red silk velvet panel, sewn together and drawn in along the front of the neckline beneath gathered stitches. The velvet panels frame the neckline and join the back of the dress in an elegant two toned silk velvet sash, which drapes along the back length of the dress and finishes in a delicate point below the back hemline of the dress. The simple shoulder line of the dress, draws the eye to the gathered smocking stitches along the front of the bodice. The elegant inset wide balloon cut sleeves, in a mid length, boast smocking stitches along the top of each sleeve, finishing in a pointed panel along the cuff, which is accented by a large decorative velvet bow. The underside of the sleeves are set off by elegant pleated gathers, which give the illusion of draw-string fastenings beneath the decorative bows along each cuff. The bias cut of the bodice allows for the silk velvet to skim the silhouette while showcasing the elegant pointed seam designs beneath the bust line. The bias cut fitted waistline of the dress, sets off the draped bias cut of the skirt-line, which drapes in soft pleats along the silhouette, completing this dress in an iconic 1930's Art Deco silhouette.
