Rendered in the most sumptuous shade of Pumpkin spice crepe silk, which is in turn embellished with bronze coloured glass bugle beads, this original 1940's dress is just the piece to add to your seasonal collection.
The V shaped neckline is framed by a notched design and a border of long bronze glass bugle beads, in a swirling and curled design. The simple shoulder line, sets off the short length inset sleeves, which are edged with matching borders of bronze bugle beads along each cuff. The fitted bodice, is accented by tailored darts, which run up from either side of the front of the waistline to beneath the bust-line. The mesmerising bodice, is decorated with a pattern of trailing smaller glass bugle beads. The cinched in waistline, draws the eye to the peplum design along the front of the skirt line, which is constructed as a top layer to the skirt and finished with a scalloped and pointed hemline, which is decorated with bronze coloured long bugle beads, in a swirling pattern, finished with a continued trailing pattern of smaller glass bugle beads to match those along the bodice. The construction of the dress only features the peplum design along the front, as this is neatly sewn in along each side seam. The straight line cut of the base layer of the skirt, sits perfectly beneath the beaded peplum layer, completing this dress in a truly iconic 1950's silhouette. The back of the dress is accented by a matching crepe silk belt fastening, which draws in along the back of the waistline.

Condition: This dress is in good but not perfect vintage condition. Light and gentle wear to the backing along the belt which is situated at the back of the dress. Two small age marks along the left hand side of the skirt-line 10.5 inches up from the hemline. Light colour variation to the crepe silk along the shoulders. Darker colour variation to the right hand side back of the bodice along the shoulder blade. A curved linear mark along the back right hand side of the bodice, which the crepe appears to have become lighter in colour. A similar lighter linear mark along the front left hand side of the bodice. Gentle colour variation to the silk along the skirt line, below the beaded peplum panel. The beadwork of this dress has been fully restored. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report. These minor imperfections are not overly apparent when the dress is being worn and only noticeable upon close inspection.
