Rendered in the most figure flattering silhouette, this original vintage 1940's black crepe silk dress, accented by pastel striped taffeta silk in shades of pale blue, pastel pink, green, grey, chartreuse and white, is the perfect statement piece for your vintage collection.
The rounded neckline is framed by a striped taffeta silk turned down pointed collar, which draws together centrally with a hook and eye fastening. The shoulder line, is accented by internally sewn shoulder pads, which set off the single seams along each yoke. The 3/4 length inset sleeves are finished with turned up cuffs. The fitted bodice, draws the eye to the central zip fastening, which accents the fitted waistline and dropped waist-sash detail, which sits along the top of the hipline. The elegant sash is rendered in pastel striped taffeta, which contours the hips and joins in a lowered bow design along the front of the left hand side hipline. The bow sets off the draped pleats of the cross-over skirt design, which drapes from beneath the sash, completing this dress in an early 1940's silhouette.

Condition: This dress is in good but not perfect vintage condition. Very gentle colour variation to the black crepe silk along the top of the shoulder lines, this appears lighter and sun faded. A small hole to the taffeta silk bow along the left hand side ribbon detail. A few small areas of wear to the taffeta silk sash. Gentle colour variation and light wear to the taffeta silk collar. These minor elements are not apparent when the dress is being worn, and only noticeable under close inspection. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report.
