"Painted Florals" Vintage 1930's Painted & Embroidered Handbag

£176.00

This beautiful and rare 1930's handbag, rendered in a cotton toile which has been painted with a pattern of flowers, which in turn have been accented with embroidery stitches, is a rare piece to behold.
The gold toned metal frame, is set off by jade green and carnelian coloured glass cabochons in rectangular frames, which draw the eye to the central carnerlian accented lift lock clasp. The snake chain handle, joins either side of the frame with curved filigree metal hardware. The bag opens to a blush pink satin lining, which boasts two small side pockets, framing the large central compartment.

Length of Bag: 8 inches
Width of Base: 1.5 inch
Length of Handle: 14 inches

Material: Silk lined, toile, glass cabochons stones, metal hardware

Condition: In well loved vintage condition. The metal hardware shows signs of tarnishing throughout. There is a small chip to the right hand side jade coloured glass cabochons. Signs of wear to the pink satin lining and make up can be found. Externally the bag appears to have been far more embroidered than it is, and the stitches appear to have fallen away with age. Small external mends have been made to the toile to strengthen it in areas. There are a few scattered holes to the external toile, that are well concealed within the wonderful painted pattern. Tarnishing to the chain handle. This bag is well loved but is still in beautiful condition for its age and is still useable. Although there are faults these do not detract from the incredible beauty of this piece. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the condition report. This piece has been priced accordingly
