This breathtaking vintage 1920's pongee silk robe, in a muted palette of corals, pinks, greens and blues on a cream toned base, is a rare piece to behold and treasure.
The traditional cut, boasts 3/4 length kimono sleeves, and an open neckline front. The wonderful border lapel, frames the open cut of the robe, and sets off the intricate floral pattern, in which you can see pagodas and gardens surrounded by chrysanthemums

Condition: This robe is in good but not perfect condition. A darn and mend along the centre back hemline, this has been done sympathetically and is not apparent externally when the robe is being worn. A small area of gentle wear to the silk along the right hand side of the neckline next to the lapel seam. Gentle impression marks from the pale pink dye are scattered around the length of the bodice ( these are only apparent upon very close inspection) Three very small darns along the side seam on the right hand side of the skirt-line of the robe. A few very small darns beneath the right hand side sleeve. A small scattering of pin sized age marks along the front left hand side of the robe just above the floral pattern of the hemline. A small darn along the back right hand side of the robe just above the floral pattern. Light and gentle age marks conceal within the floral print. These minor details are not apparent when the robe is being worn and only visible under inspection. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the condition report.
