A true beauty to behold. This original 1940's black silk faille dress, accented by gold chevron lamé, sage green and blush pink ribbons, which are sewn in a striped pattern along the length of the dress, is the perfect piece for that special occasion.
The squared V shaped neckline of the dress is set off by a central decorative bow along the front of the décolletage, which draws the eye to the rounded sweetheart design of the top ribbon appliqué. The simple shoulder line, sets off the short length puffed sleeves of the dress, which are accented by gathered pleats along the top of each shoulder and sleeve seam. The fitted bodice, is accented by triple pleat darts along the base of the bust-line, which create subtle pleats along the bust, whilst setting off the cinched in waistline. The elegant panelled cut of the skirt-line, completes this dress in a timeless 1940's evening wear silhouette.

Condition: This dress is in good but not perfect vintage condition. A mend has been made to the left hand side top ribbon appliqué just along the armpit area. Tarnishing to the lamé and ribbon along either side of the armpits. Colour variation to the silk faille along the shoulders and tops of the sleeves, this is a natural process that happens when the faille is over exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time ( during storage) Gentle wear to the external seam along the sleeves. The dress appears to have been let out at some point in its lifetime, and has light stitching marks along the central part of the back of the bodice. Light areas of colour variation to the black silk faille along the skirt-line, again this is a natural process. Gentle tarnishing to the lamé accents throughout. Light areas of gentle wear to the some of the ribbon appliqués. These minor issues are in no way apparent when the dress is being worn and only noticeable upon closer inspection. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report.
