This truly marvellous 1940's hat by Hattie Carnegie, is a rare piece to behold. The open crown design, is framed by a raised pleated brim in soft blush pink silk with blush silk velvet accents. The turban design of the hat boasts a stylised knot along the raised front, in which clusters of silk covered grapes in shades of chartreuse and pink, with lace accents are woven within the knot. Finished with gold toned, pink and deep burgundy silk velvet leaf appliqués, and delicate gold painted accents, this spectacular piece showcases the wondrous design techniques of Hattie Carnegie. Built on a wire frame and lined in rayon and silk velvet.

Size: Medium, this hat perches above your head and has an internal hair comb to aid in the stability of the piece whilst wearing it. 

Material: silk, silk velvet, millinery grapes, wire frame, rayon

Condition: In well loved vintage condition. Sadly the external silk and silk velvet pleats have worn thin and splitting in areas. Splitting to the silk internally. Wear to the external velvet accents. Wear to some of the grapes, with slight splits to the fabric and some of the grapes have gone missing . Please refer to the photographs as these form part of the product description.  This hat is still wearable but it is a more fragile piece of fashion history.
