Rendered in the most sumptuous shade of cream silk satin and embellished with silver, clear and green glass beads, accented by silver claw set rhinestones, this original 1930's evening gown is a rare piece to behold.
The elegant rounded neckline is framed by medium width shoulder straps, embellished with geometrical bead and rhinestone patterns. The sleeveless cut frames the line of the fitted bodice, which is accented by double darts along either side of the bust-line and seams which run along either side of the front of the bodice. The fitted waistline is set off by tailored darts along the base each side seam, which draw the eye to the geometrical panels along the base of the waist-line and along the hipline area, where the bias cut begins. The Art deco panels, accent the fitted bias cut, which skims the silhouette and gently flares along the hemline. The back of the dress features a decorative cross over backline, which is embellished with glass beadwork and rhinestones, and joins either side of the base of the shoulder straps above a scooped rounded backing. The back of the bodice features matching seams along either side, which draw the eye to the geometrical cut panels that matching those along the front of the gown. The hemline if the dress is cut in a circle, which drapes longer along the centre front and centre back of the hemline, completing this gown in a truly mesmerising and iconic 1930's silhouette. This dress is lined internally with a nude mesh like fabric. I believe that this has been added to the dress at some point in its lifetime.
