This truly mesmerising 1940's dress, rendered in the softest shade of cream crepe silk and accented by delicate pleated details, is the perfect timeless piece to add to your vintage collection.
The rounded neckline of the dress, is framed by a soft turned down collar, which draws in along the nape with rhinestone button and loop fastenings. The simple shoulder line, sets off the elegant wide cut short length sleeves, which are accented by box pleats and join the backline in a detailed pleated cape-like feature along either side of the button fastenings. This construction is created using one panel of pleated crepe silk along each side, which begins along the top of the shoulder line, contouring the sleeve seams and continues to join the backline. The timeless cut of the bodice, is accented by a central smocking stitched panel positioned beneath the soft collar, which creates subtle pleats along the front of the bust-line and bodice. The fitted waistline, sets off the elegant peplum panel along the top of the hipline, which in turn frames the running seams along the front central part of the skirt-line, which lead the elegant knife pleats, completing this piece in a truly iconic 1940's silhouette.
