"Blush Lamé" Vintage 1930's Blush Silk & Gold Lamé Beaded Dress UK 8 US 4

£429.00

This truly enchanting 1930's blush silk and gold lamé dress, with a glistening pattern of leaves, finished with glass beaded embellishments along the neckline, is a rare piece to behold.
The V shaped neckline is framed by wide shoulder straps and a sleeveless cut. The décolletage in embellished with a border of scattered clear glass beads, with small silver claw set rhinestones, and faceted diamond cut clear glass beads, setting off the delicate faggot stitch detail edging the neckline, and setting off the cross over design of the bodice and bias cut. The fitted bodice, is accented by double dart seams along the bust-line, and a cross-over feature, which curves in an elegant petal cut along the waistline, which is in turn edged with faggot stitches. The elegant line of the skirt, is accented by a bias cut hemline, which flares gently along the base of the silhouette. The rounded back-line of the dress is edged with a matching border of beadwork and rhinestones, and fished with faggot stitching. The dress is fully lined in blush silk chiffon and has internal weights along the hemline, which enables the lamé to drape elegantly along the silhouette.

Condition: This dress is in good but far from perfect condition. Some tarnishing to the lamé beneath each armhole, this appears a darker shade of gold and has some very light signs of vert de gris. Some light laddering to the silk lamé bodice and some visible stitches along the waistline. A darn and mend to the lamé along the left hand side seam just beneath the base of the hook and eye fastenings. A patch mend and darn along the bottom centre half of the skirt-line ( this is only apparent in certain lights) A patch mend and darn to the lamé along the back right hand side of the skirt-line near the skirt seam. A full small and concealed seam mends along the base of the skirt-line. A very small darn along the centre back of the hemline of the skirt, this is well concealed within the drape and pleats of the bias cut. Light and natural thread lifting to the lamé throughout. This is a very fine silk lamé dress and these mends and restorations have been done sympathetically.  This piece has been priced accordingly and should be worn with gentle care.
