This magnificent early 1930's cotton tulle dress and jacket, embellished with geometrical sewn soutache details and white rocaille beads, is a rare piece to behold.
The stand up collar of the jacket is backed with wire, creating a structural detail along the nape. The simple shoulder line is accented by soutache details, that contour the sleeve seams. The full length sheer cotton tulle sleeves are edged with soutache embellished cuffs which are finished with small side slits. The edge to edge cut of the jacket is set off by soutache borders and pointed design detail along the bust. The back of the jacket features a central point, and a weighted internal area, that enables the jacket to stay securely in place.
The open v neckline of the dress is set off by a simple shoulder line and a sleeveless cut. The fitted bodice is accented by decorative pointed seamed panels that run from beneath each yoke and join the waistband. The centre of the bodice is decorated with micro cotton covered buttons. Her cinched in waistline is set off by a central soutache embellished panel. The wonderful drape of the skirt, is cut in a perfect A Line, with a lowered hem along the back.The lower part of the dress boasts 2 layers of cotton tulle, adding to the weight and drape. The dress is decorated with a rounded soutache panel and diamond shaped soutache designs.
This dress has its original silk dress slip to conceal ones modesty.

Closures: This dress fastens with 10 press studs. The jacket has no fastenings. The jacket and the dress can be joined together with two press studs along the shoulder line.
Condition: The jacket has 1 small pull to the tulle along the back of the left hand side shoulder. The dress has a small scattering of age marks to the left hand side of the skirt-line. The centre part of the neckline has been split to become a V shaped neckline, this has some raw edges. The dress has 2 small holes to the back of the skirt beneath the waistband . The slip is in fair condition, with gentle wear and fraying to the silk along the hemline.
