Made in the most exquisite ivory silk, decorated with silver glass claw set rhinestones, glow mesh rhinestone strands, faceted iridescent glass beads, and frosted white glass beads, this original 1960's Christian Dior dress is a rare piece to behold and never again find.
The high rounded neckline of the dress, is framed by a border of embellishments, finished by faceted iridescent glass beads, interspersed with white plastic rhinestone glow mesh strands in a detailed fringing design. The elegant shoulder line sets off the raglan cut of the sleeves, which are edged with intricate and sparkling embellishments, emulating those along the neckline. The fitted bodice, accented by tailored darts, draws the eye to the cinched in waistline. The iconic A line cut of the skirt, completes this dress in an iconic 1960's silhouette.
This dress is fully lined in soft rayon.
Provenance: The piece originally belonged to Carol Thomson Parker, and was worn for her wedding to Michael Avison Parker, the former equerry to Prince Philip. Antony Armstrong-Jones took their wedding photos. A really interesting bit of history!
