This beautiful 1940's rayon dress, with a wonderfully bold floral pattern in shades of ruby red, teal and yellow set against a cream base and accented by black toned lines contouring and setting off the flowers, is the perfect statement piece for your wardrobe.
The V shaped neckline is framed by wide pleated shoulder straps that form short shoulder coverings. The central part of the neckline is accented by a pleated fabric loop, that joins the pleated shoulder line in a near bow design.The fitted bodice is accented by gathered smocking stitches along the centre of the bust-line, that draw the eye to the pointed central seam and simple fitted waist panel, which is set off by a matching fabric belt, finished with a bow detail, concealing the hook and eye fastenings. The wonderful long line of the skirt is set off by box pleats that radiate from either side of the waistline, creating wide pleats and drape to the skirt. The backline of the bodice is accented by the pleated straps that join centrally in a tiered pointed V shape detail, completing this dress in a truly iconic 1940' silhouette.

Closures: This dress fastens to the side with an 10.5 inch metal lightning zip and allow the back of the belt with two hook and loops.
Condition: This dress is in well loved and fair but wearable vintage condition. This dress has a wide scattering of age marks and foxing throughout, these are well blended in with the floral print, but noticeable upon inspection.
A small pin sized hole to the centre of the front of the waist panel. An area of wear to the rayon along the left hand side pleated shoulder strap. Small scattering of pin holes to the right hand side shoulder strap A small mend to the rayon along the left hand side armpit. Yellowing to the rayon along each armpit. Mends and darns to the dart seams along the back of the bodice . Pin holes along the entirety of the hemline, with a substantial patch mend, 3 small seam mends and darns along the hemline. The side zip fastening appears to have been moved at some point, as a row of pin holes are apparent where the zip used to be.
These issues are unfortunately a sign of age, and do not detract from the overall beauty or quality of this piece. .This dress has been priced accordingly. Please refer to the photographs as they form part of the product description.
