This truly enchanting 1930's silk dress in the softest shade of marina blue, with detailed wide smocking stitches and pleated gathers is a true masterpiece of her time.
The deep V shaped neckline is framed by gathered shoulder straps that gather in pleats beneath running stitches along the top of the shoulder, and further gather beneath a second row of double running stitches along each yoke, these create elegant pleats that radiate across the bust-line. The décolletage is accented by the top tier of smocking stitches that begin beneath the bust and pleat and gather across the bodice, fitted waistline and hipline. The wonderful full skirt drapes along the silhouette in pleats created by the smocking stitches along the bodice, completing this dress in the most ethereal and elegant 1930's silhouette. The back of the dress boasts a simple silk back panel, and joins the smocking stitch design beneath the waistline.

Condition: This dress is in near perfect vintage condition. A scattering of age marks along the bottom of the skirt just above the hemline along the front. A few small pin holes to the bottom part of the skirt line. Very light colour variation to the blue silk, this appears ever so slightly lighter in areas. An age mark along the centre back seam of the skirt midway height. Very light water marks throughout the skirt, these appear as a slightly darker shade of blue. These minor issues are realistically not apparent when the dress is being worn, as they are well concealed within the incredible pleated drape.
