A once in a lifetime piece, this original 1950's Neymar Couture duchess satin gown, in the most sumptuous shade of cream, showcases true craftsmanship in its design and construction.
The straight-cut neckline is constructed on a tulle base and embellished with pearlescent glass bugle beads, claw set silver rhinestones, pearlised rounded beads, and tubular pearlescent beads that are sewn in a droplet design, accenting the criss cross beaded design upon the tulle base. The duchess satin bodice sits beneath the tulle embellished bust-line and is constructed with internal boning, which creates a fitted silhouette along the bodice. The cinched in waistline, is accented by a central decorative matching satin bow and waist belt. The elaborate and quite simply magnificent skirt is built upon layers of stiffened petticoat tulle. The central straight line panel of the skirt, which boasts double box pleats to either side of the front of the waistline, is in fact the main skirt in which you step into and is built in a column design, edged with a panel of beadwork to match the bodice along the centre front of the hemline. To either side of the central skirt, constructed in a pannier design, gathers of pleats and draped Duchess satin, fan out in elegant pleats along the length of the side skirts and a final one along the central back of the skirt. The central back pleated design conceals the hook and eye fastenings along the back of the dress and the base of the zip. This dress is small and therefore has not been fully zipped onto the display mannequin.

Closures: This dress fastens at the back with a 15 inch metal zip and 9 hook and eyes along the top of the skirt line.
Condition: In good vintage condition. A few very small beads missing from the beaded bust-line. Wear to the satin along the top of the bodice- internally beneath the tulle overlay, The satin has worn thin along the top edges along the armpits and there are areas satin missing ( this is not apparent externally ). A small pin sized mark to the centre front panel of the front of the bodice. A few small black marks along the under side of the central satin bow ( this is not apparent externally )
A few small pin sized dots to the centre front panel of the skirt and some light beadwork missing from the front of the hemline.
The pannier side bustles have a lot of weight to them, and have had to be strengthened in place beneath the waistline. There are small areas of wear to the satin where it has been restored and strengthened in place. These are along the pressure points, to either side and along the centre back.
There is a small mend to the centre back bustle amongst the pleats and an area of light colour variation where the satin has aged and slightly yellowed.
Wear marks along the hemline and some gentle thinning to the satin along the hemline.
Very light age marks concealed within the pleats and drape of the duchess satin throughout the skirt. These are in no way apparent when the dress is being worn. Please refer to the photographs as these form part of the product description.
