This wonderful 1940's dress, in a warm shade of claret crepe silk, accented by gunmetal silver beadwork and iridescent pink sequins, is just the piece to add to your seasonal wardrobe.
The V shaped neckline features a slim cross over modesty panel along the décolletage. The elegant shoulder line is accented by curved shoulder panels, from which gathered pleats radiate along the front of each yoke. The short length sleeves, frame the elegant bodice, which boasts pleats along the front of the bust-line that join a tailored dart above the waistline. The fitted waistline, sets off the elegant drape of the skirt which is accented by previous accordion pleats, which throughout time have dropped out. Nonetheless the silhouette of this dress and detailed beadwork showcase the wonderful tailoring and design of the era.

Closures: This dress fastens along the side seam with a 7 inch metal zip.
Condition: This dress is in good but far from perfect vintage condition. A small darn along the top of the right hand side shoulder. A small pin hole along the cuff of the right hand sleeve. A darn/mend to the top of the left hand side shoulder. A mend/darn to the back left hand side of the skirt line 6 inches above the hemline . The hemline has a raw zig zag stitch . Very light linear colour variation to the crepe silk along the skirt where the pleats were once apparent. Two small pin sized darns along the front left hand side of the skirt- 3.5 inches below the waistline. A small pin sized darn along the bottom left hand side of the skirt, 7 inches up from the hemline. These details do not detract from the beauty of this piece and are not overly apparent when the dress is being worn. This piece has been priced accordingly.
