The story so far,
We have always been obsessed with this truly sumptuous fabric. Not only is it a great textile to keep one warm and snug during those winter months, it also creates an extremely flattering, elegant and sensuous silhouette. Whether velvet is the main element of a dress or shown on a cuff of a sleeve or a collar, this fabric makes one feel sophisticated and desired. Or perhaps velvet is seen on your favourite accessory, those small touches complete your chosen outfit. The perfect Christmas gift, there is always a place for velvet to shine under those festive lights.
The tartan plaid has played the most outstanding role in the history of vintage fashion. When thinking back to the time when tartan first started, popular opinion would locate tartan's roots in Scottish heritage. However, the earliest examples of this beautiful plaid dates back to 3000 BC. Tartan serves as a mural and once again one is reminded that our modern trends have an intricate history to their fame. This is just one of the reasons why vintage fashion is so invaluable in today's fast fashion world.
As our favourite season fast approaches us, we cannot help but start thinking about those gorgeous palettes Autumn displays and how we can welcome them with open arms into our sweet little shop. As we are rooted in the rolling hills and towering woodlands of Devon we are not lacking inspiration. Autumn showers us with the most gorgeous shades of burgundy, amber, caramel and toffee flavours whilst blowing in the cooler weather and fallen leaves.
The sophisticated sheer look is the leading lady in our autumn photoshoot this year. The question of whether or not a woman should bare her chest has been at the centre of recent debate. We feel it is our duty to make a compelling case in favour of showing some skin, whilst of course spinning our vintage twist on the matter.
