Made in the most sumptuous shade of tomato red crepe silk, edged with silk velvet trims, this original 1940's dress is just the piece for your vintage collection.
The V shaped neckline is framed by a cross over bodice, which radiates from along the right hand side shoulder beneath a rounded panel, edged with pleated crepe silk, which is in turn finished with a black velvet trim that undulates along the pleated edge. The radiating pleats fall from along the right hand side yoke and join the left hand side seam which boasts gathered smocking stitches and a curved seam. The top pleated panel sits above a simple cross over panel. The short capped sleeves are accented by pleats along the top of the sleeve seam. The cinched in waistline draws in along the back of the dress with a matching fabric belt, and sets off the pleated frill detail along the dropped waist seam, finished by velvet trims. The elegant skirt-line is accented by box pleats to either side of the centre of the waistline. Finished with button fastenings along the back of the dress, each detail of this piece showcases the design and craftsmanship of the era.

Condition: This dress is in near vintage condition. With a few very light areas od gentle wear to the internal sides of the sleeves . A few very light and faint scattered age marks to the skirt . Very light fraying to the black velvet trims. This minor issues are not apparent when the dress is being worn and only apparent under very close inspection. Washing instructions: This garment should be dry cleaned or hand washed in cool water.
