Rendered in the deepest shade of plum in a wonderful crepe wool weave, this original 1940's skirt suit, is just the perfect ensemble for your tailored wardrobe.
The deep V shaped neckline of the jacket, is framed by wide pointed notched lapels, which are elegantly sewn into place, joining the main construction of the jacket along the side seams beneath the sleeves. The slopping shoulder line is accented by internally sewn shoulder pads, which set off the full length sleeves, which are in turn edged with wide turned up cuffs. The fitted cut of the jacket, draws the eye to the cinched in waistline, which is set off by tailored darts along either side of the front and along the back of the waist. Finished with front pockets along either side of the front of the hemline, which boasts external collars.
The matching skirt, sits perfectly beneath the jacket and is accented by a fitted waistband. The elegant line of the skirt is set off by the tailored darts along the back of the skirt, beneath the waistline. Finished with an elegant kick pleat along the centre back of the hemline, this timeless suit showcases the iconic and sophisticated silhouette of the era. The skirt is not lined. The jacket is fully lined in silk.

Condition: This suit is in near perfect vintage condition. The lining of the jacket along the internal shoulder line has been mended as the silk has worn thin along those areas. These mends have been done sympathetically and to help strengthen and restore the area. Some light and natural colour variations to the internal silk lining of the jacket, this appears slightly lighter in areas. These minor details are not apparent when the suit is being worn as they are internal. Please refer to the photographs, as they form part of the condition report.
